Devlog #22 - Pet Dogs and Villager Scheduals

Wow. It’s been a little while, right? My personal life at the end of 2019 was really busy. But I’ve still been trucking along and working on Dinkum the whole time. Why don’t I show you some of the new stuff?

I’ve been trying to give the Villagers more variance and personality. One of the big steps towards this was giving the “vendor” villagers days off. So they weren’t always trapped in their workplace just standing around.

All the villagers now have days off where their store is closed and they’ll wander around town doing their own thing. They might water crops that they see, take a seat somewhere, eat some food, visit other shops or just chill out around town.

If they have the day off, and you’re good enough friends with them you can even ask to “hang out” with them! While you are hanging out with a villager they will follow you around and help you with whatever tasks you are doing that day. Right now they can help you water crops, help you clear land and will help protect you if you are being attacked by a nasty critter.

But what if you prefer the company of animals? Well, if you meet certain conditions you might receive a pet dog!

There are a few different variations of dogs, but they all like pets.

This good boy will also follow you around and help with hunting and will always try to protect you. A Very good boy, I must say.

Sometimes your dog might get distracted and start sniffing around. What is it sniffing at anyway? Is it under the ground? Again, he’s just a good, good boy.

I’m going to try and post a blog here once a month for sure. I know I’ve said it before, but I’m really going to try! Otherwise I’m still posting semi-regularly on twitter. Here’s a tweet that shows off the new recycling bin.

Thanks for reading!
